It has a snapdragon 430. How is this an upgrade?

I would say the shift to Lenovo for the MotoG has been a complete & utter failure (for me as an anticipating punter & fan of the MotoG 'franchise')

It's about the same as the 617, from the G4, but runs much cooler. The G5 Plus has the 625 though, which is a fantastic SoC.
The Moto brand seems to be going downhill recently.
They can't even get a successful Nougat update out for the 4th gen.

not really a great step up from G4.. pretty much comparable specs with G4.. was hoping for at least a better camera and processor when I heard about its launch... slightly disappointed.. :smirk:

agree with the comments above, the G5 plus is the key one for new specs. However this update brings a smaller phone (size and screen, G4 was too bulky for most light users) with better power consumption, metal body, Nougat at same price point than last year despite £ tumble. For a non heavy user this is a good basic and future proof phone with tried and tested components.

basically if you have the G4 already not worth the upgrade, if you want one then go for this as it has pretty much everything the G4 plus had last year, screen is smaller but much better, less heavy, metal body, more RAM and turbo charging

Hmmmmm my shortlist is this, P2, Honor 6X or P9 Lite..

P2 looks good on paper but has too many bugs that lenovo seem to be ignoring. I reckon h6x is the best pic of that bunch although might want to hold off as apparently they are releasing a 4gb ram version of the 6x soon.
