I bought one of these from Gearbest in February. Took a while to get here but am very happy with the printer.
Didnt get charged for customs or any other charges. Think its pot luck and you might get stung if you are unlucky for an extra 20% or more.
Would not recommend this to anyone that is not prepared for some serious tinkering. And the first thing you should do is ditch the power supply as there are many reports of them failing in a cloud of smoke.
While you wait for your printer to arrive search out the official facebook support page for the Anet A8 and get prepared for all the things you will need to do to get this printer working really well.
If that sounds like crazy talk to you then this is not the printer for you - you will need to pay at least double to get something ready to go but thats why this one is so cheap.

A8 is the model number not the printing size. The bed is a good size (think its 220 x 220 x 240mm).

You need to add customs and charges to the price.

I bought one, arrived two weeks ago with no customs charge. In fact I have never paid any customs charge for purchases from Gearbest. I don't know if it's because I've been lucky, or whether they use some method to avoid this, such as artificially lowering the value on the shipping slip.

You don't, they ship to their uk warehouse first then onto you

You may have to pay customs charges, you may not, its hit and miss if you do.
I paid £19 customs import duty this time but not last time when I bought something about the same value.

Ive found their customer service to be pretty good. Ive had many quads from Gearbest over the years and any that were faulty, they have changed (might require photo/video evidence but thats no problem)

Isn't A8 really tiny? Could you even print a phone case in this?

Great printer, most definitely not plug & play or for someone with no patience. Invest the time though and you get prints comparable with a machine 4 times the cost.
Price is pretty much average though, I paid that in January
