I got this monitor last year for nearly the same price and it has 2 major drawbacks: intermittent flickering and buttons hidden underneath the screen. I still can't decide if flickering means a faulty monitor as it has been widely reported in the forums but it is annoying. Did not experience this issue with Samsung though.
At this entry level of monitor (FHD60) HDMI and Display Port are on the same level.
Flickering indicates a fault somewhere in your system/setup.
You want to find out if it's due to the monitor, the cable, the motherboard/gpu connector or a software issue.
Try the monitor with a different cable. Eg. If using vga try dvi or hdmi.
Test the monitor on another pc. If the problem persists then this will rule out your machine being the issue.

I wouldn't know without looking but I have used them previously for PC components and had no issues at all.

Well that's unfortunate, I just ordered a somewhat similar monitor yesterday to replace one that just died :disappointed:

Just bought it, let's see how it is, I don't really need a great monitor and I know that for £90 and 24'' it won't be the best monitor ever

BTW is display port superior to HDMI?
