At this entry level of monitor (FHD60) HDMI and Display Port are on the same level.
Flickering indicates a fault somewhere in your system/setup.
You want to find out if it's due to the monitor, the cable, the motherboard/gpu connector or a software issue.
Try the monitor with a different cable. Eg. If using vga try dvi or hdmi.
Test the monitor on another pc. If the problem persists then this will rule out your machine being the issue.

I got this monitor last year for nearly the same price and it has 2 major drawbacks: intermittent flickering and buttons hidden underneath the screen. I still can't decide if flickering means a faulty monitor as it has been widely reported in the forums but it is annoying. Did not experience this issue with Samsung though.

Been after a monitor myself for a while and think that this one will be perfect!
