Note, can be had cheaper depends on what option you choose, how many days you stay and extras etc ,also flight cost can vary ,example i found a flight via ryanair 7th March for a family four RETURN for £104 all in
Note the site is in German but pretty easy to navigate, can also copy over text to google translate if you find it easier
This place looks amazing!
An expedition through the tropical rainforest, a stroll along the beach of the South Seas, the water slide, a buffet in the Sawadee, the elegant Thai house - and much more is possible in the tropical island of Krausnick. Set off in the enchanting Bali lagoon, you can enjoy sandstones, palm trees, typical monkey cliffs and Balinese huts. Or build sandcastles on the 200-meter-long beach of the South Seas. Look forward to a Mediterranean ambience full of surprises. The choice of attractions is great, the fun of it is much bigger. You can stay either in a cozy tent, directly in the tropical landscape or in the comfortable room
You can get the bus outside Berlin Tegel airport, then change at Berlin Central Berlin change on to the train - times do vary so check before you travel.
you can also book via hoppa for a private transfer https://www.hoppa.com/en/ code TRANSFER20 should knock 20% off or get a taxi outside the airport but think that'll be more expensive.

Do you know where this saying came from (I think Only Fools and Horses?) as I have never seen Germans nicking all the Sun Loungers ever, just curious if it is based loosely on any fact, or just the 80's UK Humour of taking the mickey out of the Germans?

I think its based on observation in mediterranean resorts, basically Germans are more likely to get out of bed earlier than the British.

It was built in the 90s for a modern airship company who went bust. Tropical Island was built in the 2000s.
I have been twice while visiting people in the area, it's a really nice place to visit and you could fill three days if you are into beach/water park stuff. The building is incredible, it's so vast with lots of different areas, you could spend a day there and not cross paths with other people. I'd suggest that children are not left unaccompanied since the lifeguarding is (IMO) quite scarce and liberal.
There is a new outdoor rapids that is frankly quite dangerous and would probably not be allowed in the UK  Likewise they have a blue water slide that is pretty violent and has left me with bruises!

20-30 years ago in Spain the German's would put their towels on the loungers in the middle of the night. We used to get up early and through their towels in the pool.
