Not so, perhaps you want to make a bigger purchase, and need the item just now, kitchen, bathroom, even a car, whatever, this allows you to make that purchase and not be hammered with the high apr of a loan or car finance.

If you're sensible you can put purchases onto such cards and earn interest on the money you would otherwise have going straight out of your account.
These cards are great as an interest free repayment option for big purchases.

Although only 51% of applicants will get that deal though. Two chamber Russian roulette.

Good time for this card to come. My barclaycard free interest period is coming to an end. Wish there could be some cash back for joining.

I buy everything on 0% and save £200 a month, finance is worthy if you play to your gain.

Many people like me will be using this to borrow at 0% and invest at a higher percent. Offshore bank accounts currently pay 5-6%.

Trouble with these deals is they encourage people to take out more debt. OK if you're strong willed/sensible enough not to get carried away otherwise clear your credit card monthly.

financing a large purchase is one thing and yes, i agree, cards are useful then. But all too often they are used to clear outstanding debts elsewhere and then the debts will be built up again. I've seen it happen many times.

yeah for sure. but with a promise of 30months of interest free purchases its aimed at people who will gain debt...not putting the monthly shopping and fuel on then paying it off at the end of the month. its tailored to encourage debt, not to spend wisely.
