Some price gouging going on for X370 motherboards right now.
Here is Amazon pricing a high end board for less than $ + VAT price.

would be even cheaper if they didn't plaster the bloody board in disco lights and garish shrouds and decals.

Haha I think you misunderstood my comment. I was saying it's not pointless to have that amount of power. I think if the rumours are right Ryzen will be the most significant CPU launch in over a decade.

cheers fella.
it just grinds my gears how they have started adding all this tat that increases the price.
-RGB
-plastic shrouds everywhere
-reinforced RAM slots, why, how heavy is RAM, PCIE yes, RAM no.

What you call overkill others call 4k or triple screens. Buy what you want- as will everyone else.

The X370 boards overkill for the vast majority, for enthusiasts, power users.
Unless you really need the extra features found on the X370, buy the cheaper B350 boards.

People buying the Ryzen 7 processors coming out right now for £320+ are enthisiasts and power users. B350 is a bad choice unless you need an mATX board.

what is the point of having video outputs on the boards? No iGPU on these new Ryzens is there?

There will be APUs released. May as well support them.
Only the very top end boards will skip video ports.

The £75 Asrock B350 board I linked above doesn't have the video ports.

doesn't have enough expansion ports for my needs :disappointed:
hopefully more boards will be announced in the coming weeks?

I'm gonna pair the R7 1700X with the best B350 board I can find under £100 since I don't need the extra graphics slots plus all the other extra features.
Currently running a i-74790K on a cheap MSI ECO H97M board (£35 amazon deal no kidding), yes it (H97M) doesn't allow overclocking, an extra 400MHz~ doesn't add much to the performance of a chip already running at 4.2GHz with all 4 cores active.

Oh it does  My 4790K runs @4.8 24/7 on a SOC force board.

The K5 which is pretty much the same as the Gaming 5 above is also available for £144.43.
You only get 4+3 phase instead of 6+4 phase though.
Again way lower than anyone else.
ASRock AMD AM4 Ryzen AB350M Micro ATX £74.48
