I quite like this! Almost bought one last time they were posted, but deceided to wait until I moved house. I'm using an NZXT Hue to light behind my desk at the moment, to help reduce eyestrain and it works a treat. A little impractical though as it's meant to go in the DVD drive bay (which I no longer have on my machine)
This one lets you control it via an Android / iOS device though so takes any of the messing around out. 2m is the prefect size for me too, as it just covers both the desks. They should send the EU plug anyway, but just stick a note in to make sure you have no issues (should be fine anyway)

If you're after something much cheaper, without the extra functions and aren't too fussed about using a phone to control it, you could go for the This Kit - It's £8.81 and you get a fair bit of LED stripping. You'll need a power supply for it though, as this one doesn't come with one. I quite like the idea of these too, dead simple to use. I suppose it depends on your application, really. Anyway, thought it was worth a shout!

or for about £12, get arilux smart wi-fi rgb controller for £6.50 and 5m 5050 rgb strip for about £6. does the same job, maybe not ifttt, but few people use it.

Few people use it until they use it. It's pretty much the glue between my disparate collection of "smart" home devices.

any idea if this works with the Amazon echo?

I don't think so :disappointed: Not seen anything for that, anyway.
Shouldn't be much on a problem, depends how you want it. My strip is along the back of the desk, If you want it on the back of the TV itself it could be tricky to route it, but not impossible. You'd want to make sure the strip was nice and even, so it doesn't look patchy. You can get smaller strip kits so that you can have a couple top and bottom to make that issue go away.

I'm pretty sure it wouldn't work directly, but since this works with IFTTT, then you can get it to work with the Amazon Echo since IFTTT thankfully now works with Alexa. You just need to use IFTTT to connect to Yeelights & Alexa, and then create a recipe for example:
If I say "Alexa, trigger yeelights" then yeelights turn on.

Don't bother with the 2 x 5M strip. Threw it away after a couple of weeks. A lot of the diodes did not work, different sized ones, split tape such that the last 2m of one did not work. Basically a load of .......

Might be worth noting that you'll need your own power connector.

Just to warn people in here that I have recently ordered a couple of items from GearBest. One item was sent and was a different model number (cheaper version) from what was advertised on their website. The next item never turned up and after sending them an enquiry I was told that they do not have it and that they will therefore not be able to send it. They would have kept it all to themselves had it not been for me chasing it up a couple of months down the line. May be a bit of bad luck but two problems in two orders made me question ordering anything from them again.

Cue a load of people/paid shills saying "I've ordered hundreds of items from gearbest/banggood and have never had a problem.".

ive used them a lot in the last year no issues here except sometimes the tracking takes days to start working and a faulty plug which they offered a refund for and sent in under three days or reporting the fault.

This doesn't react to what's on the screen though does it?
