Think it's odd the 90quid 2ds console comes with the game, but the 180quid console doesn't

Looks like a good price! Only caveat is the Switch is due out soon and if the 3DS slowly gets laid off after its release and the rumoured pokemon port appear on it, then this may be better putting towards that!

2DS - The nations least favourite way to play the nations most popular handheld console games. Many of us find it odd that such a dreadful unit exists, and more so that people buy that old tech.
EDIT: PS I have noticed via 2DS deals and discussion on here quite a lot of people who buy a 2DS do so because they want to avoid the "3D" for their kids. So many don't realise you don't need to buy a 2DS to avoid 3D gaming. I would not go as far as say Nintendo are mis-selling, but they could be a bit more helpful and produce a 'guide to which 2DS/3DS handheld console to buy'. Even a simple tick box chart like what features you get with each unit would do.

Ok that's not a bad start. C'mon Nintendo, start selling all those beautiful themed limited edition units US and Japan get now. If you ship them, we will buy them.

My kids and I all have 2ds because it's half the price of the 3ds... so £250 for x3 consoles (I got the limited edition before xmas), rather than ~£510 for 3ds. This is HUKD, I thought we were all about saving money?

HUKD is clearly about saving money on purchases, but the 2DS and 3DS are different products. It's not exactly fair to say that because one is cheaper than the other it's always better, although I appreciate they do mostly the same thing. People pay extra for the better design of the 3DS and the additional features of the New 3DS. That may not be important for your ideology or circumstance but for others it may be.

Nintendo have said the Switch is not a replacement for the 3DS and the the 3DS is not going to be dropped for quite sometime. But have to say I have concerns with that statement as the 3DS is like gold dust, Nintendo themselves have only just got stock in for the white console and now this. I want a orange one, nowhere did it say it was LE but nowhwere has them at decent prices just scalpers.

The 3DS has been low stock or no stock at most online retailers for months. Nintendo are obviously not going to suggest the 3DS will become a legacy device soon because of the Switch, it would reduce sales and annoy recent customers, but it is inevitable that the Switch will be the main focus for Nintendo going forward and 3DS support will be phased out. However there are a few 3DS releases going forward because of the large customer base. The 3DS does have a decent library of titles too so it's not as if buying one now or in the future would be an awful decision. Unless the pricing completely crashes it looks like the Switch is going to be approximately twice as expensive as a 3DS too, which may keep the 3DS selling and encourage continued support for it.

Nintendo also said the Gameboy Advanced would not be dropped once the DS was released. We all know how that turned out.
The same was done with the Wii and you still believe Nintendo when they say it once more for the 3DS?
The Switch will replace the 3DS. It's the only reason to go with the portable design.
