2DS - The nations least favourite way to play the nations most popular handheld console games. Many of us find it odd that such a dreadful unit exists, and more so that people buy that old tech.

EDIT: PS I have noticed via 2DS deals and discussion on here quite a lot of people who buy a 2DS do so because they want to avoid the "3D" for their kids. So many don't realise you don't need to buy a 2DS to avoid 3D gaming. I would not go as far as say Nintendo are mis-selling, but they could be a bit more helpful and produce a 'guide to which 2DS/3DS handheld console to buy'. Even a simple tick box chart like what features you get with each unit would do.

The 3DS has been low stock or no stock at most online retailers for months. Nintendo are obviously not going to suggest the 3DS will become a legacy device soon because of the Switch, it would reduce sales and annoy recent customers, but it is inevitable that the Switch will be the main focus for Nintendo going forward and 3DS support will be phased out. However there are a few 3DS releases going forward because of the large customer base. The 3DS does have a decent library of titles too so it's not as if buying one now or in the future would be an awful decision. Unless the pricing completely crashes it looks like the Switch is going to be approximately twice as expensive as a 3DS too, which may keep the 3DS selling and encourage continued support for it.

Nintendo also said the Gameboy Advanced would not be dropped once the DS was released. We all know how that turned out.

The same was done with the Wii and you still believe Nintendo when they say it once more for the 3DS?

The Switch will replace the 3DS. It's the only reason to go with the portable design.

My god you are insufferable. Could have easily afforded a New 3DS, but when I looked in to the exclusive game(s) for it, and games that utilise the C stick, it didn't seem worth the added cost, not to mention I'll never actually take it out of the house so portability is of zero concern to me. But hey, continue to try and judge people you have no information on and don't understand their motivations behind their purchases, it's quite amusing. If we're doing that, bet you have the Switch pre-ordered and can't wait to play all of the exclusive AAA game available at launch for it?

Carry on with your "Hurr durr, I'm rich and have a New 3DS, your poor and only have a 2DS, shame! shame!" routine if it makes you feel better.

Oh, and could be easily turned around to you justifying your purchase of the New 3DS :wink:

Sorry, but you were the one looking down on people and throwing around judgement, you don't get to take the moral high ground and "withdraw" from the discussion. You claimed you were here to provide good and fair information to help people understand their choices and get value for money. That's exactly what I was doing. Is the New 3DS better than the 2DS? Yes. Should everyone buy a New 3DS over the 2DS? No. I'd argue you were providing misinformation to people, as you were dismissive of the 2DS, and parents looking on here might read your posts and feel they need to buy a N3DS rather than a 2DS.

If you have a New 3DS and you're happy with it, Excellent. For myself (and I'd guess many others), the added cost of the New 3DS didn't make sense. I might pick one up when there are more exclusives available for it the interest me, but right now the 2DS provides me with a way to play all of the 3DS library that interested me. It's not simply a cost issue, which you seemed to believe was the main reason people would opt for a 2DS over an N3DS. It's a case that I don't feel the compulsion to spend an extra £100 on features I won't use or, in the case of the larger screen on the N3DS XL, will actually impact my enjoyment due to the image being stretched.
