Google books are in ePub format and cannot be read on a kindle unless converted. The google books may also have drm (digital rights protection) on them which has to be removed.
Calibre book management software (free) is a brilliant way of organising and side loading books onto ereaders etc but it does not remove the protection. However plugins for calibre are available (apprentice Alf) that do.
