The site that the link takes you to is in German, however it translates to "welcome chip magazine reader, enter your email and we'll send you the premium code". The tick box is to sign up to their (openfreedom) newsletter.

I've just gotten it off the chip magazine advent calendar and haven't been asked to subscribe to anything.
anyway, since it's only a year then i'm not interested. i already have a VPN deal with someone and i thought this might be handy as a backup.

I just bookmarked the advent calendar page and just click each offer, i don't actually see anything from the magazine in that respect.
