As usual, SharewareonSale are just ripping off someone else's work, this time the Chip Magazine advent calendar. Use the real link: okayfreedom.com/spe…/of?

The site that the link takes you to is in German, however it translates to "welcome chip magazine reader, enter your email and we'll send you the premium code". The tick box is to sign up to their (openfreedom) newsletter.

I've just gotten it off the chip magazine advent calendar and haven't been asked to subscribe to anything.
anyway, since it's only a year then i'm not interested. i already have a VPN deal with someone and i thought this might be handy as a backup.

Hmm. I haven't received anything after giving my mail, I wonder if it was fake. What does the magazine say, to get this?

I just bookmarked the advent calendar page and just click each offer, i don't actually see anything from the magazine in that respect.

This is the Chip Magazine Advent Calendar offer for the 22nd (bottom middle), click through and then on the red "Hersteller-Seite" link, it'll take you to the same link I provided above.
Oh, for anyone trying to use this, download the software from the main homepage and not the link in the email as that link usually contains a version with ads.

I tried some other software from sharewareonsale.com but didnt complete the process because of the hoops I was expected to jump through to get the activation code. How have others found the site?

Well, it makes things doubly worse when you're going through all these hoops to get activation codes or downloads for someone else's software. This giveaway is a case in point.

This interested me until I read the feedbacks on it . Seems CyberGhost is a better VPN , although it cost a bit to get that . I think www,sharewareonsale.com is good for some things so I tend to be selective with their offer . Ashraf is doing a good job IMHO .

The only bits of software i've found useful from that calendar so far are the full version of Alcohol 120% and the SSD Fresh program that optimises and checks your SSD.
The Advanced SystemCare Pro program would have been useful but it was apparently only a one year licence.

I'd have respect for the guy if he stuck to offering his own stuff and didn't keep ripping off the work of others. The Assassin's Creed 3 "giveaway" the other day was the classic example, then there's this one. I don't really like giveaway of the day but at least the stuff they have is all their own work, they deserve credit for that.

i don't like vpn software that vendors give, you never know what it is doing in the background.
is it possible to get the openvpn settings for the servers so you can use your own software?
