I have bought rather a lot of Whisky lately - The only saving grace is that It doesn't go off. No Haig Club here....Proper Whisky for men and ladies who appreciate more than advertising. But enough of that. Amazon Deal Of The Day - The Lagavulin 16 looks very good value - The Talisker is tempting and the Highland Park is a bargain. Never tried the caol Ila. Nuff said.

A lot of this is subjective though, people have different tastes, so if you prefer something different, it doesn't mean that it is actually better. It's just your preference. All the whiskies you mention are high quality products produced in the tradition of their distilleries. They are all excellent.

For what it's worth, ie not much, my view is that Caol Ila is right up there with Lagavulin and Ardbeg. At least it was last time I tried it, which was a good while ago.

No - That sounds like a worthy opinion! Thanks! Very tempted now! Just on with the Quarter Cask!

Agreed.
Caol Ila is a lovely whisky.
For those that like peated malts like Lagavulin 16 they should definately try.
Light, smokey and delicious.

Argh i've already just had 5 bottles for my birthday and no doubt more to come at christmas, but I am tempted! Lagavulin is one of my favs and Caol Ila is one I have been meaning to try too. The more peat smoke the better!

Agreed, I would put it above the Lagavulin.

simply: it's not above
Laphroaig, Lagavulin & Ardbeg are the top 3 - age matters, price matters
Bowmore can do a good second place job but it'll never be in the top 3
Caol Ila and the others are third - not as good but pretty good

OMG. Lagavulin is never on offer let alone a huge discount like this . Had to buy one at that price and threw in a bottle of Makers Mark for £20 as well . The amount of offers is scary , I'm stocked up till next Xmas at this rate
Agree with OP today's discounts are pretty much all proper whiskies with exception of the flavoured Jim Beams. Great prices on Highland Park , Bulliet , Woodford, Taliskier as well. Also do not pass over Jim Beam Double Oak , that is a fine Bourbon and a steal at £17
