4GB doesn't make much of a difference over 2GB in most games, but the price is good.

An upgrade would be the RX 480 not 460.

hot. does this run purely on motherboard lije gtx 750ti? i guess depends if small form factor version but could turn any 60 quid quad core sff refurb on ebay into gaming pc. i just got a refurb pc to put a rx 470 in.
Seriously tempted to upgrade my R9 270 2GB with this...

Not tried it myself but apparently you can't install the newest drivers if you do this.

I have a 7970 3GB. would this be an acceptable upgrade?

This would be a downgrade, your 7970 outperforms this card.

You card was turned into the 280X. This card sits somewhere around the 270 and 270X, depending on the direct x version and game, but either way you look at it 7970 to 460 is a downgrade. You would use less power though.
