would be great to have some suggested alternatives if this is such a bad option. I suspect torches are something that lots know a little about and few know a lot about.

"Probably" Mmm, yes exactly. When I'm walking in the middle of the night, in the middle of nowhere, I don't want probably, I want it to work without fail. In my experience, cheaper ones are a gamble.

I bought this for 29.99 a few weeks ago. it's a good torch, but I'd go for the p7 variants as they're more conveniently sized and have similar performance.
LED Lenser are kinda like Maglite torches. Both brands are good solid, well built performers, think of them as workhorses, but neither are never the best value or performance on the market.

Fine if you need a solid reliable torch for security work but if you just need a bright torch that you can use around the house, you can get half a dozen perfectly serviceable lights from China for this price.

I have the P7 Tactical torch, got it for sub £30 from Amazon a few months ago. Its a god send for when I'm walking the dog in the morning and evening.
