£10 for 1Kg of Italian coffee beans is a very good price.
They can be frozen in an airtight container if you don't actually run a cafe too.

Don't freeze them - it's a myth.

What's a myth?
There is a whole load of online discussion on the subject. From what I see, in an ideal world freezing wouldn't be necessary as you'd prepare just what you needed, but in the real world freezing in an air tight container works if you have to do it:
A friend of mine just took his hearing aid batteries out of the fridge. I said "Doesn't the cold drain the batteries?" but was told that the hearing aid guy recommended keeping the aids in the fridge. Sounds odd to me.
OK, I digress.

My coffee supplier says it damages it.

Fair enough, but as far as I can see, it looks like opinion is divided and I can't see much actual evidence either way.

One thing to mention, if you're going to freeze them, make sure they're properly defrosted before you grind them.
Moist beans on your grinder will ruin it.

I wouldn't keep aids in my fridge

Better than keeping it in your pen-is...

I think that is to keep the waxy deposits fresh?

Years ago it might have been true as it slows the chemical reaction internal leakage, but with todays technology its a much reduced phenomenon.
