To clear things up: Yes, freezing coffee beans is bad. Buying stale beans from the supermarket is also bad. If you're buying these, you probably won't notice. FYI, it's pretty much pointless buying beans like this. Go to a decent coffee shop and buy freshly roasted, or use Pact Coffee (delivered to your door).

Air tight container in the fridge in a black bag to stop any light when opening and closing the fridge. If kept in the freezer any moisture will turn to ice and damage the beans. Personally I keep them in my air conditioned comms room at work.

Cold won't drain the cell, in fact it will slightly lengthen the lifetime. Not to the point that keeping it in the fridge is a must, but it is definitely preferable, all being equal, than leaving it at room temperature. At room temperature, a normal AgO2 cell will lose about 10% of its capacity in a year. It's much less at lower temperatures, so "might as well"

Years ago it might have been true as it slows the chemical reaction internal leakage, but with todays technology its a much reduced phenomenon.

I think that is to keep the waxy deposits fresh?

Don't freeze them - it's a myth.

My coffee supplier says it damages it.

One thing to mention, if you're going to freeze them, make sure they're properly defrosted before you grind them.

Moist beans on your grinder will ruin it.
