I've owned a vive since release. In all that time I've put many people into it, my window cleaner and the heating engineer servicing my boiler were two of the most unusual ones, and every single person has been amazed by the experience and the tech. Not a single one of them mentioned resolution or screen door.
Last night I played Raw Data co-op for the first time with a good friend who got a vive for Christmas. I'm still a little in awe at how amazing an evening that was. At the end when we took off our headsets at 2am and headed for bed he text me and said it felt like I had just left his house. We live 200 miles apart.
The future is here now. It's not perfect yet, but it's plenty good enough for now.

Very negative thread. I advise people have a read of the Vive reddit because it's full of feedback from people who've actually tried and fallen in love with the tech. You can now design your own VR environments from inside the Vive, I can't wait to unbox mine
Seems no price on the page, nowhere to click to buy one, you have to phone someone. What year is this? :P

Hoping for an upgraded model with a lower RRP by next Christmas.
I was planning to skip this gen as I've still got a DK2 which seemed pretty expensive at £350 back in 2014! (At least I've had my money's worth).

There is a pc world deal posted which also had links to various other retailers doing the offer, incuding scan / overclockers etc. vive 2 rumours for ces 2017 were also just "rumours". obviously it will come out eventually but live for now

Heat added as is a great price but honestly I couldn't see VR being the next big thing. Bought a Rift last month and sold it on shortly after, 2016 definitely isn't the year of VR they claimed it would be. If it was more affordable, easier to plug and play and had the support of big studios it may take off but sadly at the minute it is genuinely a tech demo and true VR won't be for years yet.
I don't know about the Vive but the resolution, screen tearing and sickness from the Rift were horrendous!
With a GTX 1080 aswell, the tech has a long way to come.

Having tried out a Rift on a friends 1080 on games like DCS which are pretty badly optimised for VR at the moment, there wasn't any tearing or sickness, I'd worry about the setup being configured wrong. I wasn't overly impressed with the resolution though

I played Subnautica, Keep Talking & Nobody Explodes, Elite:Dangerous and I was done. The resolution was a massive disappointment, it's a main selling point but you can clearly make out individual pixels. Yeah Oculus was a pain to set up but the Vive is another kettle of fish, lighthouses drilled into the walls...no thanks.

I'm so very tempted, as I have a bookcase and a lamp I can rest them on in just the right places, but sadly the card I want to pay for it with is still in the mail, so I'll have to make do without
