This is around 50% off (£499.99) what it retails for and would be in my basket if it was 4K compatible.
No, it's not a sofa.
It's currently OOS but available to order. Amazon don't take payment until despatch, so there's nothing to lose.

To be honest I think you may be better off waiting until around March onwards when you start seeing the current crop of 7.1 channel £500 receivers in the likes of Richer Sounds reduced down to anything between £250-299, that is what I always do, right on the cusp of the latest receivers by manufacturers coming out they reduce the prices to stock shift.
Excellent spot Buzz. Tempted to give a try

It does look extremely sleek. Especially in comparison to my current RXV-671

Will this stream from a NAS or external HDD?

I'm not sure mate, I can't see anything regarding it. Although I'd expect it to be a given with a networked receiver. My current setup most certainly does.

Check out the Marantz 1605/1607 series as they are the slimmest out there. Full 4k HDMI 2.0 compliance with Dolby Atmos and DTS-X i.e. fully future proof (until next week anyway) Unfortunately quite a bit more expensive.
They gave this a 8/10 when reviewed at £499. I just don't think I dare even bring the conversation up with the other half so close to Christmas

Go on....Basically assumimg you have a normal living room (even a very large one) then pair this with something like the Tannoy hts 101xp. Then wonder why you ever needed more than 50 watts per channel
