This is an article on Wi-Fi Extenders (what this product is) and Powerline Adaptors and how to improve your signal. Each have their own advantages and disadvantages. If you're just looking for something cheap to boost your signal, then the BT Wi-FI Range Extender will do the job
This is Amazon's price tracker, but it hasn't been this cheap before.

They do what they say but overall success depends on how far away you are from it, how far it is from the original Wi-Fi source, the layout of the building, construction of the building etc...
It does boost your signal though. You can also try repositioning your router to see if you get improvements by having it central in the house, or closer to where you use Wi-Fi the most.

Bought this yesterday from currys very easy to set up but it reduced my broadband speed from 32kps to 17kps so I returned today for a refund

You might need to start looking at powerline adapters instead. They don't reduce your bandwidth limit. This one should work for you: TP-LINK TL-PA4010KIT AV600 Powerline Adapter

Basically, that's what they do. That's how they work. Take from the strong signal area & give to the weak signal areas.
You might see an improvement in some areas but deterioration in others.
As mentioned earlier, Powerline is probably the way to go
