Yes a multi C/D battery torch can be used as a weapon but it's not got a grab handle built in to make it as such. Almost anything can be used as a weapon in the right hands. A piece of paper can be a deadly weapon if used correctly.

I often wonder how that would go in court.... I don't think the law prohibits a "weapon" which discharges photons in such a way as to cause discomfort... yet anything which discharges a noxious gas or liquid is illegal.

We have a few old Maglites updated with a LED insert, 6 D cells, each of my children have one in their homes, comforter, pacifier.
I have tried to impress upon them that if needed anything from the shoulders down is fine but not the head, might damage the torch.. lol

No, sports equipment isn't an offensive weapon unless there's suspicion that it's in his possession with intent to cause injury.

Firstly they'd need evidence or reason to believe that he had it in his possession with the intent to injure someone.

They'd also need to prove possession. Having it in his car under the seat doesn't count as possession, as it was his granddaughter's and she left it in the car after a rounders game and he was not aware it was there.

As long as he doesn't drive around waving it out the window threatening people, he'll be fine.

Me too, came with charger and plug, no hand strap though. Not sure how it would stand up against a wolf though, torch is quite good.
