Amazon Echo going for £5.00 cheaper than the RRP with a John Lewis 2 year guarantee . It's a virtual assistant that can knit together all the smart-tech in your house. You should get the Dot if you don't want the speaker in the Echo.
Say goodbye to any privacy you thought you had in your home as MI5/NSA listen to every conversation.

Paranoid much? why would anyone care what i was saying in my own home? every conversation?? hey if someone has nothing better to do than listen to my ramblings at home then good luck to them!
of course, if i was a terrorist or planning other crimes then yeah i would probably not have one of these.
Besides, any smart phone is capable of the same thing

I noticed it's £5 off on Amazon an £20 off the echo but 2 year guarantee helps still dunno if I should get one! So the only difference between the Echo an dot is the speaker part?

Dot has 'Line Out' but don't think full size Echo does.

Correct, no line out on the Echo, Bluetooth out put only (unless you hack it).

I've got one and have to agree. Utter garbage.
I want to be able to play music from my own Plex or DLNA server, but can't find a way to do it.
I want to know when my dentist appointment is. The best it can do is read out the next 5 items in my calendar.
I want to know what the weather is in Kielce Poland. It asks where in Poland. Say Kielce and it thinks you've said cancel.
It's not straightforward to create your own tasks. It requires AWS which would eventually cost money for absolutely no benefit to me if others use it.
To control my other devices, I need to buy a harmony bridge.
It seems to be an expensive way to find out what the weather is like outside or to be played a random song from Amazon Music when it doesn't understand me.
