Working in IT and Telecom doesn't give you an edge on tech. Seems there are a lot of people in this thread that don't work in the industry that are doing just fine.
Sounds like the issue resides between the keyboard and chair.

Bought this about a year ago. About 3 months ago i gave up and bought an xbox for the living room instead.
When it works it's awesome - I'm using cat 5e cable, vm 200mb, i5 gtx970 - but some days i would switch it on and i'd be making several trips up and down stairs for about an hour before i could actually play a game.
The main problems came from when things needed updates and you had to go onto the main pc to sort the issues out.
Other niggles were not being able to play origin games. I managed to get gta v and witcher 3 to work - but theyd be a hugh jarce when there were software updates.
I also wanted to love the controller, but when i switched my xbox one s on for the first time, i knew then i'd been lying to myself and the steam controller was a horrible horrible thing.
