Bit annoying if you bought it last week but Dishonored is now free if you buy at PS4 Pro at Argos.
£10 voucher still running as well so seems like the best deal at present.

If it is for a 12-year old kid, don't bother with the Pro. They won't realistically know the difference.

Heat added, but I am holding up until Black Friday.
I read in here, someone stated that argos (might) be selling it for £299 bundle. I can't find that thread again, could anyone confirm or I am just seeing things?

There was a deal for a PS Pro for £299 but it was a Very deal where you paid £349 and then they gave you a £50 credit on your account. This deal finishes tomorrow I believe but it was the console only not a bundle.
A very hot deal. Really tempting but at this stage im going to have to wait it out, too close to black friday.

I've read all the technical stuff (not that I really understand all of it) and I realise that the Pro is geared for better TVs but can anyone tell me in simple English what extra does it do over the slim? I need on for my 12year old son so need to know if he will get the benefit or not. Does it play different games or do extra things? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

You might get an improved frame rate, but it's mostly for 4K TVs. Same games as the other PS4s

The pro is the exact same console with better hardware so it can do bigger resolutions and play some games at 60htz rather than the standard 30htz.
Honestly I'd suggest going for the slim unless you're planning to play on a 4K TV and are used to PC gaming(where 60htz is more common), the slim is smaller, easier to clean and cheaper(also there are performance issues on the PRO where some games get tearing and dropped frames when playing on non-4K TVs).

In simple English, you could benefit from better frame rates if the developers do a decent job. There are some games on Pro running at worse frame rates than the original PS4 (but at a higher resolution) but we are still in the early days and I would hope the developers will get the balance of FPS vs resolution better over time. If you don't have a PS4 I'd suggest going for the Pro as I suspect before too long we are going to see some games that don't run as well as they should on the standard PS4 but the games get released because they "run OK" on the Pro.
for me its better with psvr (virtual reality headset)

Basically if you don't plan on using it with a 4K TV that supports HDR properly then the PS4 slim is fine many reports have stated running it through a 1080p display actually runs games with a less consistent frame rate than the slim as a higher resolution is downscaled if you will to 1080p super sampling offers slightly better image but less consistent performance.

You'll also get better power consumption than the current version - see DigitalFoundry on utube.

It plays exactly the same games. The real benefit is extra grunt that will give you better image quality and possibly better performance (eg games won't have as much slow down stuttering). VR supposedly looks better with it too (probably the chief reason Sony even bothered to do this). I'm not sure a 12 year old will appreciate all that. If you see one at a good enough price, you're probably better off getting the PRO. If you see a slim/pre-slim for a good price, get that.

So, the price drops begin. Argos is the first but others will soon follow.
