Bit annoying if you bought it last week but Dishonored is now free if you buy at PS4 Pro at Argos.
£10 voucher still running as well so seems like the best deal at present.

If it is for a 12-year old kid, don't bother with the Pro. They won't realistically know the difference.

Heat added, but I am holding up until Black Friday.
I read in here, someone stated that argos (might) be selling it for £299 bundle. I can't find that thread again, could anyone confirm or I am just seeing things?

There was a deal for a PS Pro for £299 but it was a Very deal where you paid £349 and then they gave you a £50 credit on your account. This deal finishes tomorrow I believe but it was the console only not a bundle.
A very hot deal. Really tempting but at this stage im going to have to wait it out, too close to black friday.

I've read all the technical stuff (not that I really understand all of it) and I realise that the Pro is geared for better TVs but can anyone tell me in simple English what extra does it do over the slim? I need on for my 12year old son so need to know if he will get the benefit or not. Does it play different games or do extra things? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

You might get an improved frame rate, but it's mostly for 4K TVs. Same games as the other PS4s

16 Nov 16#14
The pro is the exact same console with better hardware so it can do bigger resolutions and play some games at 60htz rather than the standard 30htz.
Honestly I'd suggest going for the slim unless you're planning to play on a 4K TV and are used to PC gaming(where 60htz is more common), the slim is smaller, easier to clean and cheaper(also there are performance issues on the PRO where some games get tearing and dropped frames when playing on non-4K TVs).

In simple English, you could benefit from better frame rates if the developers do a decent job. There are some games on Pro running at worse frame rates than the original PS4 (but at a higher resolution) but we are still in the early days and I would hope the developers will get the balance of FPS vs resolution better over time. If you don't have a PS4 I'd suggest going for the Pro as I suspect before too long we are going to see some games that don't run as well as they should on the standard PS4 but the games get released because they "run OK" on the Pro.
for me its better with psvr (virtual reality headset)

Basically if you don't plan on using it with a 4K TV that supports HDR properly then the PS4 slim is fine many reports have stated running it through a 1080p display actually runs games with a less consistent frame rate than the slim as a higher resolution is downscaled if you will to 1080p super sampling offers slightly better image but less consistent performance.

You'll also get better power consumption than the current version - see DigitalFoundry on utube.

It plays exactly the same games. The real benefit is extra grunt that will give you better image quality and possibly better performance (eg games won't have as much slow down stuttering). VR supposedly looks better with it too (probably the chief reason Sony even bothered to do this). I'm not sure a 12 year old will appreciate all that. If you see one at a good enough price, you're probably better off getting the PRO. If you see a slim/pre-slim for a good price, get that.

Not seen or read much yet, but it should also improve VR games, again if they've been patched to. I'd want a pro more for that personally

I think this deal is a good indication that the Pro version isn't selling well or not selling as well as was hoped. There's probably going to be some good bundle deals on in the run up to Christmas including the black Friday deals.
A friend of mine bought a pro on launch and the likes of the latest Tomb Raider look stunning on his 4K tv but he also hooked up to a standard 1080p tv and I couldn't see any difference from the standard PS4. I wish that Sony had concentrated a lot more on making frame rates a lot better with the Pro rather than 4K. It will have to come down to around £250 for me to even think about getting the Pro as it's going to take a while for games to be properly optimised for it.

I think the best option would have been to let the player choose on every game 60fps 1080P or higher resolution at 30 fps. I don't think just having 60fps at 1080P would have been a good enough selling point on it's own and wouldn't help games look better on 4k sets, which are getting a lot more common place and affordable.
Really IMHO the PS4/Xbox One in their standard forms do 1080P well enough, yes 60fps more often would be nice and yes it would be nice if the Xbox One could do 1080P on more cross platform games but overall I think they are good enough 1080P machines for the most part. To me the whole point of these intermediate systems is to start tackling the demands of 4K. I think it will be hard for the PS4 Pro as it's specs are only barely adequate for that job really. i like the efficient upscaling engines Sony has in place but I still think perhaps their smartest option might have been to push it into 2017 and beef up the specs to a level that can get closer to 4K with fewer compromises and less need for scaling....

You are right there, the cashback route via very is the cheapest way to get it. However, the comments on other ps4 pro deal threads are on black Friday the price of ps4 pro could be sub 300 including a game/ bundle. Again this is rumors no solid ground, but it is hope.
Again I am not telling this deal is bad or anything, I am just gambling on black Friday.

The price drops / competition for offering the best deal for the PS4 Pro is happening quicker than I expected. This is probably the best deal out there at the minute if you don't want to mess with Very.
The game is fantastic but if it's not your cup of tea, currently sells to CEX for £32 cash.Add the £10 voucher on top and that works out at £308 for the Pro.
reckoning
16 Nov 16#26
Yeah it'll run at a higher framerate than the standard PS4 but only if the game has had an update, and the setting is selected. Most games will get these updates, especially if still popular or still have active multiplayer communities.
More importantly and what most people don't consider is that developers will be developing with the Pro in mind from now on, rightly or wrongly, if you're making a game now you're doing it for the better hardware, with the ability for it to still run 'ok' and still saleable on PS4 standard.
Anyone buying these expecting high frame rates in 4K though will be dissapointed, the best you're getting is constant and smooth 1080p gaming.

It will only scale existing games if the developers of a particular game decide to patch that in. They're not obliged to do so. But future releases will.

All PS4s can output at 60hz frequency. A Master System can also run in 60hz. The vast majority of devices that interface with a Television can synch at 60hz. You mean 60fps over 30fps.

Because the Sony Marketing Dept told you you do....?
Other than that, unless you're really impressed with a CPU twice as fast and next to no other changes whatsoever, nope. I'm sticking with mine. If and when I get a decent HDR TV I'll have a look and see if I can see the difference with my 2013 PS4 with the HDR update (already here) on that. Save your money.

Worth getting a PS4 Pro if you don't have an PS4 currently. Prob not worth ditching a PS4 to buy a Pro unless you have more money than you know what to do with.
I still happily use my iphone 6 even though there is a 7 available. But if i were buying something for the first time its best to get the latest model/version as it will be current for that little bit longer. If on the other hand you want to save money then the previous models do sell at greater reduced prices.

This does make this deal more tempting, even more so seeing as I have a £50 giftcard available too. Still think at this stage I should probably hold off even at the expense of the cashback rate?
Afterall cashback isn't guaranteed and does you no good in the here and now if funds are tight as it can take 4-5 months (possibly less if you have premium but i don't), plus that Argos £10 voucher is no good if you don't shop with them again and I'm not sure if it can be redeemed online? Overall tempting but I'd prefer a bit more off upfront, which hopefully Black Friday will bring....

I'm totally with you on that. Tesco did a Dishonoured and Infinite warfare deal for £366 just recently. On BF they might throw in an extra game like Battlefield, or Tomb Raider for the same price. Especially since they have been offering these games for roughly £20 when bought with a PS4 pro. I'm hopeful. But if you spot a good deal on BF please pm me just in case I miss it lol.
