If neither of these are worth the money, can suitable alternatives please be suggested? Don't mind paying more if worth it, but only really need it for general use. Don't really need high capacity HDD's so was erring towards an SSD. 8GB RAM would be nice too. Probably asking for too much ;-)

Unless I've missed something... the V110 you mention is actually the superior machine.
It is a Skylake processor which scores higher in Passmark and should be more efficient. It also uses DDR4 RAM.
because 8gb 2133mhz ram, 256gb PCIE storage, 2560 by 1600p, MacOS, 1 year AppleCare and a full metal build is similar to this /s

Most shops will try shift unwanted laptops before black friday. Better just waiting.

good price for an i5, this price is normally i3 territory.

Skimped on the screen resolution but not bad for what it is.

This one seems to be the same model for £30 less and a free mouse thrown in.

Thanks. I'm looking at your link on a mobile, and can't see anything about a free mouse??
Also, your link says a battery life of 3-4 hours, whereas the original post says 6 hours. Any idea which is correct??

It's right next to the price. I wouldn't let a free mouse sway your decision, a mouse is super cheap to get.
