Mine go offline if the power is cut to them, e.g you use the wall switch to turn em off but they turn on instantly when u put the switch back on and then come back online in the app quite quickly

Actually, the answer is not binary.
These bulbs are ZigBee HA1.2 compatible. I can confirm they work with Samsung SmartThings (without the Hive Hub); simply add thing, then in the SmartThings IDE change the device type to ZLL Dimmer Bulb, ZLL White Color Temp, ZLL RGBA (depending on model purchased). They will probably also work with other ZigBee HA1.2 compatible home systems. Hue hub does have this, but since I don't own one I can't confirm nor deny whether it is possible to pair these with the Hue hub.
So basically, if the system you use is compatible with ZigBee HA1.2, and can be tweaked to accept these then yes, they're compatible.
The Hive Hub is only required to provide the App/WiFi to ZigBee link. So if you have something that is able to "speak" ZigBee already, then these may just work directly.
