Why would you not want that? The best backplates are metal, connected to the back of the card via thermal pads and so help with cooling. The ultimate goal is to draw heat away from the core and the power circuitry. Any heat drawn to the backplate helps with that, and will be dissipated by your case airflow.

Good price for this card. If you aren't bothered about twin fans and backplates you can get the Gigabyte GTX 1060 mini itx 6GB OC for Just £219.95 delivered from Laptops Direct with the 'Which' £20 off one pound trial code, it's small, very quiet and does everything this card does for less.

Nice... I'm looking for a cheap radeon rx480 with a decent cooler but they all seem to be roughly £240+ with the stock cooler variants at roughly £220+.
I was looking at the gtx1060 but the rx480 seems to perform better with directx12.
still a good deal though

paid £170 for my reference 4gb RX480. A mere BIOS flash later, it's now the over clocked 8gb version! now that is good value

What you lot think of this compared to the XFX Fury going for £270??

Looking at benchmarks comparing the 2... I think the 1060 6GB is the better buy, for 1080p.

Get a Fury, I run the Sapphire version. Will chew through anything I throw at it at 1440p on ultra - Forza 3, Battlefield 1, Squad. That way you know you can move up from 1080p comfortably in time and even crossfire them for 4K in future.
I'd suggest the £40 is worth it.

If you are stuck with spending exactly 270 quid, then you are at an unlucky price point.

I wouldn't say 3-9% stock performance is worth it.
Especially because the 1060 easily overclocks past the Fury.

Save the 40 quid, buy the 1060 6gb and put a light overclock on it. You'll surpass the Fury for cheaper.
Or, if you want to spend more, get a 1070, which destroys everything AMD is offering.
