The problem with these is they do not have a spout. OK with a funnel for filling a mower but without a dedicated spout impossible to tip into a car filler.

pull up stand by the car looking like you've got the nozzle in to fill the car, then fill the can when they have started the pump...... works every time

You must be doing a lot of mowing,. For the best really, better safe than sorry. The last time I used my two 20ltr cans was the fuel shortage a few years back.
We have 24hr pumps at our Asda, I assume you can fill up to £99 when the service desk is closed.

The law has changed and 20 litre cans are now OK as long as you only use one.

Incidentally Homebase had some a few weeks back but not as cheap as these, assume diy stores were getting a deal from suppliers at the time.

I never have problems filling up 20 litre cans, they are legal. I fill one with premium unleaded most weeks at a Shell station.
