agreed..perfectly acceptable as a backup. or for young kids for a few months to practice not breaking a more expensive one

Next closest would no doubt be something like a Bush from Argos or one of the Vodafone Smart phones but that would be locked to VF.
In other words quite a good deal.
True, but that is extra hassle which may not be worth it. I seem to remember looking at getting one of the VF phones unlocked, I was going to get one for my daughter, but I don't think an unlock was available at the time.

I kind of agree, but the sad reality is that £50 isn't really that much to some people. Especially in comparison with a £700 smart phone.
