* Yes I know 8Gb is nowhere near enough, but people seem to like this "backup phone" concept here
* 1GB RAM is apparently enough despite your incoming "lol"
They also have the Zenfone 6 (it's inches, for the confused ones) for £125 which might suit more sensible requirements.

Seems to be £6 delivery if total spend is under £80 which this would be. Total is £50.50 I believe.

Really? In that case why dont you get them a refrub one for a tenner?
Some parents are a little silly, or have to much money to burn. No wonder people in society today, dont understand the value of money!

Buy two, problem solved (or created!) but I agree and this should be in the OP's post and total combined price really.

Next closest would no doubt be something like a Bush from Argos or one of the Vodafone Smart phones but that would be locked to VF.
In other words quite a good deal.
True, but that is extra hassle which may not be worth it. I seem to remember looking at getting one of the VF phones unlocked, I was going to get one for my daughter, but I don't think an unlock was available at the time.

I kind of agree, but the sad reality is that £50 isn't really that much to some people. Especially in comparison with a £700 smart phone.

£50 is not a lot of money. Not everyone on HotUKDeals is a broke student...

I have learned allot since getting my first shop bought pc. It took me a few purchases to get it in my head. I attribute this in the same manner. That everything depreciates dramatically, and after a couple of years that £1200 quid you shell out, could be only worth a mere fraction to what you paid for it.
Now i know this is similar to cars, but the big difference is how fast it related stuff moves on compared to cars.
i think parents are mad to buy kids phones in the first instance. As we all know what kids are like, as we was once there, which should tell you allot about how they will treat that item with care and respect it deserves. The more likely hood is, they will miss treat and break it, if they dot do that, they are more likely to lose it.
So save your self allot of hazel, and buy a phone what it was intend for.

£50 isnt a huge amount of money. But considering what people get paid, it still could be a days wages. Considering things such as living cost and rent etc. It all adds up

I'm sure 'backup phone' is HUKD speak for 'another phone I don't need or want but will buy anyway'! I'm just as bad for this as anyone, got a drawer of Homtoms, Cubots and added a Huawei P9 Lite with Beats headphones last weekend! For this deal for the money and solid brand I'm highly tempted!

Throwing "decent spec" at a phone does not automatically a good phone make. But by all means, keep on believing.
I bought one of these bluboo picasso last year still going strong with the 2gb ram and 16gb internal memory enough space for apps and games. But the asus ur gunna have issues with 1gb ram and 8gb storage. And every android updates gunna make ur storage go smaller and smaller

There's different levels of phone use though. I'm a heavy user so this phone wouldn't be enough for me but I have an Xperia X which I can't see myself replacing any time soon. But my mum still struggles with the basics as do plenty of people who would just need to text and call on it - so for them this level of phone would be perfectly decent.

I agree - i bought 2 of these zenfone 4, but the A450CG (better specs than this one) for £57.00 each, for my partner's nan and my mum and these phone are perfect for them, and the bonus with these phones is the fact that they are dual-sim phones.
