No, you need a FLIR thermometer for that, these will only tell you the temperature on the exact spot the laser hits. Unfortunately the FLIR kits even to rent cost a fortune.

Not really, too pinpoint. you really need an infra red camera such as a Test, others available of course. Hire one.
