My boy has thrown his downstairs, bashed it on tables, spilt drink on it and God knows what else and it still works well worth £40

Our Hudl 1 is still going strong, never had any problems. Used daily for stuff like iPlayer and other catchup TV, as well as web browsing etc.
One of it's good points is that it has HDMI out, so we use it for watching videos on a bigger screen when we're away in the motorhome. I don't think any of the versions of Fire have that.
This is a bargain, if it was a Hudl2 I'd snap it up.

How do these compare to Amazon Fire tablets?

If you area Prime member then the Fire tablet is well integrated in to the Amazon ecosystem. You also get there excellent customer service. Though you could still install the various Amazon apps on the Hudl.

Can't speak for these but I couldn't recommend the entry level Amazon Fire tablet to anyone, it's just so clunky and slow.

Both very good, the fire tablet is bigger but can take a bashing and still work. If youR not used to a NON android device then stick to the hudle, it took me a while to get used to the fire. These are ideal for kids who will knock them around and you wont go mental when they destroy it cos the one you had cost a small fortune and they are keen to swipe it from you.

I've got the hudl 2 and it's excellent. Still going strong after 4 years. For 40 quid you can't go wrong and perfect for kids xmas

If it were a Hudl2 I'd agree (both mine are going strong - they like high power chargers, higher than they ones they shipped with). For a Hudl, don't bother.

Hudl1?! A bit old in the tooth..... Hudl2s have been this price, and even they're no longer supported.

c.£40 for a 1gb ram refurbished tablet. I'd probably just go for a new fire tablet at a little more or ideally save for a while to get a 1.5/2gb tablet that you will enjoy more.
