De'Longhi Magnifica ESAM4200 is a dual boiler and comes in at 269.99.
That said, I've no idea what I'm talking about, what's the benefit of a dual boiler? :confused:

Dual boiler means no wait time between steam or coffee selections, single boiler takes a few seconds to cool after steaming before next coffee can be produced. No biggie, but worth looking out for as it's normally only featured on higher spec machines.

This looks higher spec in other ways though, and mine has a single boiler and it's never been an issue. Hope that may help someone.

I have this and it's a great machine, paid over £300 last year.

Probably the top cover is a metal plate that gets warm mate, that's how mine works anyway.

Ah, i see, this has spurred me to read the manual. interestingly (or not) it does state the following
"None of the components can be washed in a dishwasher"

I have had this model for 3 years and have always put the washable parts in the dishwasher.
