Thanks OP for this deal. Managed to pick last one up in Argos. Never had one of these types of machines before.
Can someone help?
The box was opened but the machine had all the packaging still on it so looked unused. But the quantities of coffee are definitely the wrong way around. I.e. Long on the left and espresso measures on the right. Should I return it or can this be fixed? And why is this so?

I almost talk myself into one of these things each time a decent deal comes up, but I always resist because it's only me who drinks coffee in my house unfortunately.
Out of interest, how much cleaning does this require? After you've brewed a cup, is it just take the cup and leave it or do you need to clean up particular parts? How much descaling etc do you need to do - on a regular basis?

These machines are excellent, well worth the money. Buy some Lavazza Rossa and enjoy excellent coffee every day (you deserve it). When the grinder on mine broke the customer service was excellent too.

Wish there was somewhere you could try these machines first, I have a Nespresso machine which makes amazing coffee, but quite costly for the capsules as I need 2 at a time, wouldn't want to fork out on one of these and the coffee not be as good. Seems a good deal, voted HOT.

You get to choose the blend and supplier of coffee with this machine, even making your own blends, if you want a good supplier I recommend Brodies of Melrose.

I have the discontinued magnificia plus (think this is the newer version)....used it every day for around 1.5 years now and it's still going strong.
Great machine...def recommend over Massimo etc. just bang in some beans and you have a smashing fresh coffee.

I noticed the deal yesterday. Have no idea why it was cold can only assume it was because of the price mistake. If you think 279 is a lot for a coffee machine don't buy it but don't vote cold. Big discount+ good product = hot

Ah, i see, this has spurred me to read the manual. interestingly (or not) it does state the following
"None of the components can be washed in a dishwasher"

Probably the top cover is a metal plate that gets warm mate, that's how mine works anyway.

This looks higher spec in other ways though, and mine has a single boiler and it's never been an issue. Hope that may help someone.

Dual boiler means no wait time between steam or coffee selections, single boiler takes a few seconds to cool after steaming before next coffee can be produced. No biggie, but worth looking out for as it's normally only featured on higher spec machines.
Good price.

how much more would a decent dual boiler one run?

De'Longhi Magnifica ESAM4200 is a dual boiler and comes in at 269.99.
That said, I've no idea what I'm talking about, what's the benefit of a dual boiler?
