Yes this is the best scenario, you will definitely be getting the drives AND you will not have to pay for them.

It means you're not getting anything. If they're not taking any money, they have nothing to sell.

I've just actually gotten off the phone with Techworld and he said that, from their perspective, they had "7 or 8" left in the warehouse that they were looking to clear and once they were gone, they were gone and no other orders will be fulfilled so if you take that as read, it could well mean that some of you could actually get a drive if you ordered them from techworld.

I've asked for a refund anyway.

i'm not saying i'm going to, just considering it. i'm always happy to jump in on these glitches but i've done enough over the years to know when they're this obvious, it's probably better to bail out early rather than go through the hassle of trying to get your money back.

It will probably be took away when they allocate you the stock. But this means you will almost certainly be getting the drive/s - well done.

Shan't be too disappointed if this gets cancelled, my experience with Buffalo branded external drives has been 100% bad
First one lasted 10 minutes before the clickety-clack of death, next one gave up after 9 months.
Previous allusions in this thread suggest I'm not the only one either.
Strangely, of the 15-20 Seagate drives I've owned since the 90's not one has failed, of the 6 WD drives, 2 failed and were replaced under warranty.

If they do get delivered a few days will be spent on strenuous read/write tests 24hr/day - only then can I be semi-confident of reliance as a parachutist might expect

I crashed out earlier, checked my phone just now and saw this so decided to get up, come in to the living room and turn the PC on so I could order one .. yes, i'm that sad :smiley:

Just a price mistake, an issue with the distributor for Buffalo which is why lots of sites have it cheap. Other stuff also wrongly priced - for example this

These (and other Buffalo HDDs) were all priced incorrectly since last night. No orders will be shipped. It was a supplier stock feed error. Retailers like Novatech, Buyur etc all had the same/similar prices but nothing will be sent out because no one actually had any stock and all items were to be fulfilled via a supplier.

21 in stock at suppliers. So chances are it is just sent directly from supplier. Hence why multiple sites all have this same drive for a similar price, and the supplier is either clearing it out or is feeding wrong pricing.

If it is a clear out, 21 people will be lucky and the rest will get cancelled.

And if multiple retailers are working from the same supplier, that's why the stock system can't show accurate levels.

​Well, in my case, one of the drives was with me everyday on the commute, the other was stored safely away and they both died in the same way, the awful click of death :disappointed: My friend's drive was simply stored in the original packaging, where it went untouched until needed again as her laptop had had a fit and unfortunately, the same click of death. But like I say, it was some time ago and these were the 1TB USB2 drives, so things may be different now!

All down to how they are treated to be honest. Hard drives aren't designed to be bang around a lot. Yeah if they have Seagate drives in the over WD ones then they will generally be a bit more unreliable.

Hello all. Not wanting to put a downer on things but I had two of these drives a couple of years ago, both from different batches, both from Amazon, both failed within a year. Worse still, a dear friend bought one on my recommendation and her drive died too, again, within a year. Obviously this is my own personal experience, but I would never buy one again and wouldn't store anything too important on one unless I had multiple backups. Obviously, things may have improved since my purchase of a buffalo drive! I'm hoping so! :smile:
