The drives are incredibly noisy and I sent mine back.

Do you know if it's multi-platter? I'm considering retiring my old 1.5TB Seagate, as that's multi-platter and therefore fairly loud compared to my quiet system.

I don't find mine to be noisy. Louder than WD Green drives? Yes, but then it spins 50% faster, delivers superior read/write speeds and consequently runs hotter. I place a fan in front of it, and the Cooler Master Xilence fan running at half speed is much much louder than the drive.
Absolutely it's got at least 3 platters in it! Just not sure whether it has any more.

I sent mine back after 3/4 days..
It was so noisy - I just had enough of it and bought a slightly more expensive WD drive

What would you recommend instead? I'm after a reliable 3TB 7200 but would definitely like to avoid a noisy drive.
The reviews on Amazon are so confusing, some people saying it's silent and others complaining about the noise.

Still not cheaper than 2014, I paid 64.99
P.s Still going strong in my NAS, been online pretty much since 2014, so they are great drives IMO.

European spending money, Hornby trains, Marmite, Petrol and now hard drives. Face it, everybody just got 20% poorer. Cutting off one's nose to spite some migrants - Didn't the plebs know it'd only be ourselves who got screwed?!

Just sent back a 4TB Toshiba drive that was supposed to be part of a RAID pair because it was so noisy you couldn't think, sounded like a centipede shod in tin clogs learning Flamenco.

I think I'll skip over this one then, as between here, Amazon, and eBuyer, I've seen a few complaints about noise.
Cheers.
