Citric acid is a cheap alternative as well, no smell like white vinegar and if you like sour sweets buy the food safe version  I paid about £6 for 1kg (dilute with water so lasts years) and use it in kettles, coffee machine, bathroom etc.

Which magazine is not a big fan for timescale but applauds its soap scum removal qualities
Fantastic deal. This is a brilliant product. I use it all the time - brings up taps, shower heads etc like new. Usually £2 at wilko.

White vinegar is great for limescale (we live in a very hard water area). The lemon scented stuff doesn't leave such a stench either.

Can't believe this price, usually over 3 quid. It's either this or Cillit Bang Black for deep seated limescale. Hopefully not a misprice.
