Site seems to show you can reserve for collection, but i couldn't find the option so tried my luck in the local, they had 2 - although they did employ the old trick of forcing you to buy a payg topup when you go to pay , just need to find someone who actually uses o2 to give it now
The unit actually has Lenovo branding, so i guess it was produced by them, its a nice build and feel, slightly bulkier than the wileyfox swift.
I maintain that 5" display is too big though 4.6/7 is perfect for a phone , it looks dumpy and clumsy next to the my old z3 compact and onemini2 , perhaps if it was smaller it would have potential to be as good value as the original motog -
the phone even has functionality to 'shrink the screen for one handed use' so they must know this : /
Oh also unlocked in an hour or so (ebay) for £1.09 , now using on ee.
Even has an sdcard and headphone socket , wonders will never cease ...

Its not what you have listed its a Moto Play not the G4 version so you need to change your listing

I don't think there are 2 versions, the Moto G play is a spin off of the 'G4', which just means generation 4 - it also seems to actually be a newer handset than the G4, So call it G4 Play or just Play i don't think it makes a difference.
Its the Moto G4 with a smaller screen, camera and only 1GB Ram ( i am presuming as o2 don't mention it)

Not an awful price, but very disappointing that they released it in the UK with only 1GB RAM, despite including 16GB Storage.
Purchasing a top-up is not mandatory when purchasing via the O2 shop online. You are simply selecting the tariff that you would like, the cost of the tariff is not added at checkout.

I did see that appeared to be the case online, although the point of choosing a top up type for a pay as you go phone if you are not going to be sold one is eluding me, i didn't complete purchase online though as i could only find delivery option and i wanted to collect one, thought id try my luck instead (asking for trouble)
In store the guy confirmed it was compulsory, he seemed so happy about it too, i guess this is some kind of guaranteed up-sale they have for commission.

Just as an observation, with the OS (6) running an pretty much nothing else just a new launcher and couple of basic apps installed its running with 620MB / 898MB ram free so i don't think 1GB Ram is totally crippling, really depends what you want to do with it though , if you have high expectations you probably would need a higher spec though i guess.

problem is this phone isn't as good as the 3rd gen.which can be had cheaper in one gig of ram form

The 3rd gen 8gb is the same price , i cant find 16gb one but i guess it must be more - Specs look pretty much the same except the software version, which i doubt will be updated on the 3 so that's a big black mark for it, when you mentioned earlier version i got my hopes up thinking it would be smaller screen , but same 5" display too - so id say this is better than the 3 due to software alone, others downsides exist on both it seems.
Another mention, this phone doesnt connect to wireless AC (or 5ghz at all) which is pretty poor for a phone of this age (again onemini2 and z3c have this), seems to limit internet speed considerably compared to an ac connected phone , and this an important factor for me.

I've updated the title to reflect this as you are the second person to suggest that is the case.
You have to have it delivered rather than pick it up though, which seems backwards tbh - you'd think delivery will be more than collection.
