Re: reduced items, the question is surely whether a Co-Op-branded item that is reduced still qualifies for the 5% "reward" or is just treated like all the non-branded items (0% "reward").
Sadly the Co-Op, despite being a local convenience store for most, is literally the furthest store away from me of all the major supermarkets (including Aldi and Lidl), which is the main reason my Co-Op membership card gets so little use. Even the Cooperative Bank has a closer branch to me than Co-Op Food does, which is quite some achievement!

to an extent I would agree, not really suitable for a family I agree... but I have a co op and a morrisons both within 2 minute walk of my workplace. I quite often kill some of my lunch hour having a browse, and will pick up some of the 'orange stickers' for tea that evening.
e.g. the co op 'finest' pizzas are lovely but quite pricey at £4.50 each... often pick them up for half price with orange sticker... same with meat etc

I am sure this depends on which Coop Society your local Coop belongs to. Our local one has not paid out in years, the small amount of dividend they pay out all goes to charity.

This scheme is not the dividend, but is a straight reward that will pay out regardless of profit. They will bring back the dividend as well,but they don't expect to make a profit for another year or two. As you say there are local coops that aren't part of this national scheme.

Co op is more expensive than most places, however I find with NUS card and careful selection of deals you can do quite well.
They also reduce items quite regularly and significantly so you can pick up some bargains if you pop in daily and have a look.
Quality is also much better .e.g the wholemeal farmhouse loaf is one of the best I've had and it's 75p before discount.

Coop no longer do bank services - as you will find, the bank you are thinking of is co-operative banking whereas the food store for example is now called the co-op

Just joined at my local. I never use my NUS discount as I want to save it for places that can afford it - co-op is local and gives to good causes and now I can get 5% guilt free. Hot from me! Earned 30p just buying bread, snacks and pasta sauce! (Only 70p more to go till break even :smiley: )
