If you're not desperate for a phone, the moto E is often at £39 or £35 at Vodafone. Worth checking now and again for the price to come down. Moto E is the much better phone
The issue with this phone is that the eBay sellers rarely have the codes available for them, as the unlock codes aren't added to Vodafone's databases until at least 30 days after activation. I had two to unlock which the eBay sellers could not get the codes for.
Vodafone now offer a free unlock via an online unlocking form, as long as a PAYG sim has been in use in the handset for at least 30 days.

I had this phone which I used on holiday, and it can be unlocked from eBay. It is not bad at this price.

I paid £6.85 to unlock it but now the same seller is charging £10.99 on eBay.

Apart from the Smart Ultra 6 and Smart Prime 7, which are both made by ZTE.

Think the typical ebay unlock is about £15, but if you can wait for 30days from purchase it can be free from Voda. Just check the FAQ/t&c that mentions the 30days:
"To prevent fraud, we check that you’ve been a Vodafone customer for at least 30 days before you can request an unlock code. The first time a SIM was used in that phone needs to have been at least 30 days ago..."
