What are the lead times quoted for delivery? My Asus 1060 was 18 of August to 15th of September.

Nope, check how the 970 performs in new games like DOOM, Deus Ex or Warhammer. The 480 has a massive performance advantage and the 970 struggles to offer decent framerates. I wouldn't recommend the 970 in 2016. It's old and is getting fast left behind by Nvidia. I would recommend a 470 over a 970 too.
