The innovative design, of this 42 litre bin from the Morphy Richards, features a clever sensor operated lid which automatically opens when you are throwing out the trash and closes once you have walked away, making your life easier.
The batteries don't last , It opens when you don't want it to if you walk near it and it's a nightmare to empty if the bin bag is full . Otherwise it truly is wonderful :smirk:

I agree but have we really all become so lazy we can't open and close our own bins. Waste of money these.

That was getting on my nerves it keep opening when you walked by it so now I've put it in a corner and left the lid up lol

Never had it open when I don't want it to - it only opens when within 10-15cm of sensor.
I don't know what you're filling it with, but I've never over-filled a bag or had problems removing one. Do you recycle?

Ours lasted about 6 months before it gave up completely, id lost the receipt so no chance of a swap, I now have a dumb bin which somehow seems to work better,

Bought one months ago, sensor works great, I love it. Only have to touch the bin every few days to empty it. Heat!

It not really just open close bin though is it? it's more: open bin, close bin, run tap, wait for hot water, wash hands, dry hands; after all that you get to resume whatever it was you were doing. Of course I'm being deliberately pedantic here but still...
I think the idea behind this bin is sound it's just a shame the execution doesn't seem to be up to scratch.

Got one a couple of weeks ago, it does open when your near it no big deal as closes in about 5 seconds. Has a easy to press power button to keep open for when your scrapping plates, etc.
Only downside is no inner bin liner so best to have some newspaper in the bottom in case bag leaks.
Big plus point is 5 Year warranty included when you register on Morphy Richards site.

That's not pedantic that's describing what I do ,the same applies when I go to the outside bin,but a lot of people don't bother washing their hands after touching bins.
