They're bringing back the Maxtor brand? I thought they'd killed it!

Seems to be £90 at Groupon using the deal on the front page. New customers use code 'APPLOVE' on the groupon app to save £15 on orders over £25.

Mmm I'm not sure that's wise. Last Maxtor drives I had I bought 4 of and they all died at once! Is that the reputation they want to trade off?

Maybe the Seagate brand reputation is even worse at the moment?
I guess they'll just rotate the brands rather than improve their products. Obviously that's easier for them.

I dont think I would put so much data on a Maxtor AKA Seagate hdd very poor reviews on the Seagate version just sell it under Maxtor...

it's a Samsung drive so you'll be fine, Seagate acquired Samsung's mobile hard drive department.

Don't think so. This is 17.5mm in its case, so most likely a 12.7mm or 15mm drive. Certainly not 9.5mm.

The 3TB version is really slow - only 20MB/s write speed - I returned mine.

That sounds like USB 2 speeds, you sure it was plugged into a working USB 3 port? :stuck_out_tongue:

What size were the files? Or was that a benchmark? That's slower than I expected
