I think this is a brilliant idea. So much food is wasted every year but if this catches on it will reduce that waste, plus folk will get cheap resteraunt quality food for a couple of quid.

Too Good To Go is a hyper-local environmental social enterprise dedicated to reducing food waste. Our revolutionary concept links you with delicious food that would otherwise be thrown away at prices from as little as £2 and a maximum of £3.80 (and that’s for the second best Japanese restaurant in the country!). Through the Too Good To Go app and website you can order delicious food from local restaurants, cafes and bakeries, collect it up to an hour before closing time and enjoy on-the-go in an environmentally-friendly TGTG sugarcane box.

It's just getting started but if it goes well then I'm sure it will spread across the country. The restaurants gain too because they get money for food they were going to throw away. It's a win win situation for everybody.

Here's a screenshot of their map, these clusters are the only locations in the UK at the moment. There's none in the rest of the UK at present

I don't understand folks concerns about the quality of food? It will be exactly the same as every other customers food. The restaurants are bound by exactly the same laws, food and hygene rules no matter how much the meal costs.

used this for the first time. this week paid £2 for a Chinese buffet. Felt almost like I was robbing them it was so cheap. I think its a great idea, will try more restaurants to see if the standard is as high

Yeah, I'm in Hull and thought I'd give it a whirl but there's nothing within an hours drive...
Great concept, though!

End of day left overs, great idea? I think you get what you pay for. Not sure I'd want leftover chicken that's been sat out all day at the end of a buffet for example.
