I'll stick with Windows 7... it works and I can control the spyware/malware/bloatware that you can't with the repeating reinstalling forever Windows 10... Microsoft will own and can sell your surfing/lifestyle details... nice

Cold for me
If you want to try OEM licenses £13.92 here, even cheaper if you use a Win 7 Pro key from there

You'd have to be quick if you're going to go with Windows 7 and upgrade to 10, there's only a couple of days left to do so for free.

people have Windows Media Centre set-up on Windows 7 and use it as a DVR to record TV, and share around the house
Windows 10 has got rid of Windows Media Centre

Agree with this - I bought a couple of Win 7 licenses from Opium Pulses recently and they have been fine (used for Win 10 upgrades).

Do you know if the free upgrade allows you to change your motherboard?
Just Wondering

I believe the license is locked to the motherboard based on a thread I started and the replies I received over at tomshardware forum.
I am trying to sort my upgrade as we speak. But, I am also trying to keep windows 7, and install the update on a separate partition. Not going right at the moment.

install windows 10, then roll back to 7. you can then upgrade to 10 anytime you like in future.

Why on earth would you want to keep Windows 7,unless you are a time traveller.

I have to admit that a lot of things about 10 really annoy me. I actually preferred 8.1 over 10 tbh.

because your hardware doesn't support windows 10, or your software. I couldn't get it installed on one of my pc's that runs win 7x64 as it asked for a driver disc before it would start installing anything. I know from experience on another pc running windows 10 that it doesn't like the raid/sata cards and there are no drivers for them for win10x64

Because older machines are not certified for Windows 10. Eg Dell does not update drivers and the many crash Eg video drivers. Hence it is best to stick to Windows 7.

I understand this is just a key. How could you install it into new PC with no current OS running on it ??
I understand the way to go is
- Use an old PC to create the bootable Windows 10 in USB stick or DVD using program such as rufus.
- Use the windows product key when prompted during the installation.
My question is :
Where to find the trusted website to download Windows 10 to create bootable USB and/or DVD
Is there any better program or way than rufus to create a bootable USB and/or DVD ??
Thanks
