For some reason I have a spare lid to this sitting in the attic... I would not rate it as it rusts so badly... not very good for the UK climate. I'd suggest just going for a masonry BBQ, you paint it each year and it lasts and uses coal... so much better than GAS.

This has been debated on many a bargain bbq thread (ie coal vs GAS, not the presence of a spare bbq lid in your loft) and the general consensus from those in the know is that on a GAS bbq you still get the smokey taste as the fat drips onto the flame tamers or lava rock and vaporises back into the food, therefore I have to disagree with your confident assertion that coal is so much better than GAS

I prefer gas. Food tastes exactly the same and it's more convenient as its easier to clean. I find I use it much more than the coal BBQ I had before as I just flick a switch and go.
