Some parents raise responsible kids and are fortunate enough to be able to spend time supervising their activities. So many things that teach kids about the real world need that kind of commitment.
Things as diverse as archery, fishing, cooking, swimming and even gardening are all dangerous activities to expect a child to undertake alone, but there's so much to be gained from doing those things with kids, because spending time with your kinds on that kind of thing is what teaches them to love it for themselves.
I love gardening because of the time I spent in the greenhouse with my Dad and my Grandad when I was younger. And I loved the responsibility of being given a knife, when usually they would be off limits of course, and I respected that for the most part.
Learning to handle potentially dangerous things in a supervised environment when you are young is actually the best recipe for being safe when them when you're older.

You can make one of these yourself - A dome of wet sand, cover it in clay from a stream, cut out a door and scoop the sand out and the first fire in it will harden the clay - great fun with the kids, especially if you make your pizzas from scratch too.

Ahh the world famous Mexican pizza ???? Looks far too small to put a pizza in. Do you put them on top?

I wasn't sure if you were being serious. Where do I find this stream with clay in it up in Wakefield? Serious question as I have never seen this.

Surely not for the fun of children, would really be irresponsible to let them play with this stuff

Anyone got a good way to make really nice pizza Base? Mine always hardens when I cook it. I'm looking more for a pizza hut/Domino's style Base. Or as close as.
