Your deal is actually £286 more outlay. It would only be £70 more after you send them your old laptop & all cashback is paid

Why is that a bad thing? It's one of the main things that got me to buy it.

Simple, put a second larger hard drive in the optical drive bay. Change the location of your desktop, documents folder to it.

superfast is a bit of an exaggeration but it's not a bad price
you get a cpu bench score of 2889 whereas my £302 deal gets you an i5 with a score of nearly 4000 - but that's obviously £70 more!

Hi, anyone know which option has better performance, this HP i3 or the Asus A6 below? Both coming in around the same price.
This Intel i3 is a much better CPU. The AMD is quad core so when running software optimized for 4 cores it comes fairly close to the i3 which is dual core with hyper-threading.
But as most software including the O/S is more impacted by single or dual core performance the Intel is miles better.
Thanks guys, helped a lot - will go with the i3 then!

decent for the avid user who just wants to browse etc. not for someone who wants to game/video edit etc.

Check reviews or the HP site for info on upgrading or even Crucial.
Whether you NEED more than 4GB depends on your usage patterns. Many home users don't USE more than 4GB.
What do you want to use it for?
